Walla Walla, WA - Patricia Alice Craik Fackenthall, affectionately known as Pat to her friends and family, departed from this world on February 11, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer and unexpected complications. Born on February 9, 1943, in Portland, Oregon, Pat's journey of 83 years came to a peaceful close in Walla Walla, Washington, surrounded by her loving family.
Pat's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and the love she had for her family. She shared 64 years with her devoted husband, John Fackenthall. Their union was blessed with six children, who in turn filled Pat's life with joy and purpose: Ingrid (John Keating), Peter (Joy), Jamie (Passed away in infancy, 1970), Katrina (Eric Rios), Kristian (Tammy Dilley), and Johannes (Chelane). Pat's legacy also includes eleven cherished grandchildren, their spouses and two and a half great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness. Pat is survived by four siblings, Larry Craik, Suzanne Kack, Jim Craik, Elizabeth Hardy, and preceded in death by sister Margaret Sauza and parents Everett and Edna Craik.
A graduate of Walla Walla College with a BA in Elementary Education, Pat channeled her passion for learning and service into every facet of her life. After teaching for two years, she became a mother and that became her primary focus, although she also managed John's medical practice as well as their family business, Craik Lumber.
The Seventh Day Adventist church was a cornerstone of Pat's existence. It guided her through life's trials and triumphs and was evident in her loving interactions with everyone she met. Her commitment to her faith was not only personal but also an example she set for her family and community.
Her interests were as vibrant and varied as the gardens she loved to work in. Pat's love for the outdoors was evident in her dedication to flowers and gardening, which served as a sanctuary and a source of great joy. Demonstrating that it is never too late to embrace new challenges, she and John took up running races later in life, including seven marathons, showcasing her indomitable spirit and love for life. She and John also found great pleasure in traveling around the world often with friends and family, and never tired of experiencing new countries and cultures, including visiting relatives in Denmark and Austria.
Pat's memory will forever be cherished by her family and will live on as a beacon of inspiration for all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held at Walla Walla University Church, 212 S.W. 4th St College Place, March 15, 2026 at 11 am. Spring or floral attire is recommended in her memory at the service.
