Washtucna, WA - Matthew Lloyd Cunnington, a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, passed away tragically on Thursday, November 20, 2025, in a car accident near Washtucna, WA. He was 24 years old.

Born on April 18, 2001, in Lexington, Kentucky, Matthew grew up in Milton-Freewater, Oregon, and most recently resided in Ritzville, Washington.

To know Matthew was to love him. He was known as one of the kindest and most genuinely considerate people, always thinking of others before himself. His infectious energy and laugh meant he always lit up a room when he walked in, and his charming, humorous personality ensured he was friends with everyone. He knew no enemies. He loved teasing his family and friends, giving everyone a good-natured hard time.

Matthew had a deep love for the outdoors. He cherished summers camping, boating, and water skiing with his family. He enjoyed fishing and the companionship of his dog, Harley, and cat, Quinn. He also loved golfing with his brothers, making time for a round whenever he could. He was a sports fan who loved following the WSU Cougs and Seahawks football teams, as well as the Mariners baseball team.

Professionally, Matthew worked proudly as a Wind Turbine Technician II alongside his brother, Braden.

Matthew is survived by his devoted parents, Todd and Melissa Cunnington; his older brothers, Glen and Braden Cunnington; and his younger brother, Carsen Cunnington. He also leaves behind his loving grandmothers, Joan Cunnington and Diane McEntire, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lloyd Cunnington; his aunt, Tammi Witsett; and his great-grandmother, Wanda Mattice.

A viewing will be held for Matthew at First Christian Church, 518 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, Oregon on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 1:00 PM, followed immediately by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. A private burial will be held at a later date.
