Lester Wayne Doering Obituary

College Place, WA - Les Doering was born on July 25, 1969, in Prescott, Washington, the first son of Les and Nancy Doering. He grew up alongside his brother, Brian, and spent his childhood playing basketball, riding anything with a motor, and hunting with his dad.

Les never sat still. He took care of the house, ran a business he was proud of, went back to college at 48 to earn a bachelor's degree, and always made time for his family. He became a staple in the Touchet community. If he heard you were working on a project, he would show up with the perfect tool, a word of advice, and a helping hand. He taught his kids everything he knew, from playing pinochle to driving a stick shift. Wherever he went, someone always stopped him to chat.

He was a true outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, camping, and hunting with his closest friends and family. Every fall, Les led a pack string into elk camp at Bullfrog Springs. He loved every minute spent in the mountains with his best buddies. After his passing, the idea of a family camping trip came up and everyone laughed through tears, realizing none of us would know how to do it without him.

Les is deeply loved by his wife of 31 years, Shawn Doering; his children, Addison (Josh) and Colton (Ashley); and his grandsons, Bennett and Rowen. He is also survived by his mother, Nancy Doering-Kelly (Mike); his brother, Brian (Andrea); his mother-in-law, Mary Rowe; and many other cherished relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Les Doering.

As anyone who knew him can attest, Les loved a good get-together. Join us to celebrate Les on June 13th at 12pm at Walla Walla City Seventh-day Adventist Church, followed immediately by lunch on the church lawn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Touchet Fire Department, where Les proudly served as a volunteer firefighter for 12 years, or The ALS Association in Les' memory, through Herring-Groseclose Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at Walla Walla City Seventh-day Adventist Church on 2133 Howard Street, Walla Walla, WA on June 13th at 12pm.
